Planning Instruction

I taught this lesson in the Spring of 2015, to a wonderful group of second graders. I enjoyed blending science and language arts together to create a cohesive lesson addressing both Common Core State Standards as well as state adopted content frameworks.

I developed this lesson in the Fall of 2015 for my Integrated Curriculum class. It is a lesson combining English Language Arts (writing, presenting) and Health (stress reduction strategies). I intended it to be a lesson that would be taught over the course of two class periods.

This is a selection from the unit that I developed and taught as part of my Integrated Curriculum class in the Fall of 2015. This is a 3rd grade unit on the Coast Miwoks in which I integrated the social studies lessons with art, language arts, and a sprinkling of science and P.E.

Making Subject Matter Comprehensible
The following is a PowerPoint and the accompanying handout from my group presentation on visual impairments from my Fall 2014 class, Foundations of Special Education. The focus of this presentation was to educate fellow graduate students on one of many low-incidence disabilities that we may encounter in our careers as teachers. The presentation begins with education about visual impairments: their multiple causes and representations, as well as their scope, and continues to address instructional planning accommodations, social integration issues and solutions, and information about guide dogs in the classroom.

Assessing Student Learning

The following document is my classroom management plan. This document addresses issues of behavior management as well as community building and supporting my future students. I believe it is a good example of engaging students in learning because it discusses positive behavior intervention strategies.
